Site Reliability Engineer

Matternet, a leading drone delivery network, as a Site Reliability Engineer. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability of systems that support live flight operations. You will work across our AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes, Terraform, and observability stack. Your responsibilities will include defining service-level objectives, improving monitoring and alerting, leading incident response, and automating infrastructure and operational work.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in SRE, infrastructure, or backend roles, strong experience with AWS and Kubernetes, and proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language.
• 3+ years in SRE, infrastructure, or backend roles operating production systems, including on-call responsibility
• Strong experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and containers
• Experience building monitoring and alerting with tools such as Prometheus and Grafana

Knowledge of security practices for cloud infrastructure

• Experience with PostgreSQL operations, including upgrades, replication, and backup and recovery
• Experience operating Kafka, MQTT brokers, or other messaging systems

Preferred

• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language
• Hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience
• Experience with Terragrunt or Gruntwork
• Experience with IoT/telemetry, fleet, robotics, or other systems with hardware in the loop
• Experience using AI coding assistants to accelerate development
• UAV, aerospace, logistics, or other operationally critical domain experience
