Join Equals Money, a fast-growing regulated payments business, as an Assistant Statutory Accountant. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Financial Reporting to prepare the group's year-end statutory accounts, manage external audits, and handle various technical aspects of monthly management accounts. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of your own entities and workstreams, gaining valuable experience in statutory reporting, group consolidation, audit, and tax compliance.
Accurate - you check your own work before it reaches someone else's desk
Organised - you can hold multiple open requests and know exactly where each one stands
Responsibilities
- We are looking for a qualified accountant, or a part-qualified accountant who expects to complete their final exams within the next twelve months
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). We will also consider strong part-qualified candidates who expect to complete their final exams within the next twelve months, and full study support is provided
- Willing to learn - you take feedback well and act on it
- Dependable - when you say something is done, it is done
- Able to hold several deadlines at once across month end, year end and the audit, and keep all of them moving
- A sound working knowledge of IFRS, with the confidence to apply them to a real situation and document your reasoning
- Curious - you ask why a number is what it is, rather than simply reporting it
- Technically confident - you form a view, document it, and can defend it to a reviewer or an auditor
- Comfortable with technical depth - you would rather understand IFRS 16 or deferred tax properly than find a way to work around it
- Comfortable working across multiple legal entities and currencies, including foreign currency translation on consolidation
- Exposure to Corporation Tax and VAT compliance, and an appetite to build broader tax knowledge across multiple jurisdictions
Preferred
- Exposure to group consolidation, multi-entity reporting or financial services is an advantage
- Practical experience in a statutory reporting, financial accounting or external audit role, gained either in practice or in industry
- Strong Excel skills; experience of an ERP-based general ledger such as NetSuite is an advantage
