About the Team and the Role
The Digital Manufacturing Engineering team bridges plant-floor OT and enterprise IT to build connected, intelligent manufacturing systems across vehicle and battery assembly lines.About the Role Leading a team of 4–5 engineers, you will combine technical architecture with people management to deploy end-to-end digital threads (MBOM/BOP), MES workflows, Digital Factory and Tecnomatix virtual commissioning.
You will de-risk new program launches and maximize plant uptime by driving shop-floor integration across PLC logic validation, edge AI diagnostics, OpenCV vision inspection, and NX-based automation. You will lead the predictive manufacturing engineering initiatives.
Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Execution around below technologies-
Digital Factory & OT-IT Integration
Drive the Integrated Digital Factory Framework, ensuring the integration of PLCs and Torque Tools into the central network.
Digital Thread Enablement
Lead the transition to a fully digital thread including MBOM/BOP creation, Process FMEA, Control Plans, and automated linkages.
Virtual Commissioning & Digital Twin
Champion the use of Digital Twins for predictive maintenance and facility layouts. Lead Virtual Commissioning initiatives to validate and debug PLC logic before physical deployment.
AI, Computer Vision & Emerging Tech
Oversee the deployment of Computer Vision (OpenCV) for quality inspection, machine-level energy monitoring, acoustic press-fit diagnostics, and AI chatbots for machine error root cause analysis (RCA).
Automation & RPA Implementation
Guide the development of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) within NX to automate Design for Assembly (DFA) checks, part commonization, and Poka-Yoke setups.
Siemens Xcelerator Portfolio
- Deep knowledge of
- Teamcenter
- (Manufacturing Process Planner - MPP, TC Quality),
NX
(CAD & RPA automation), and
Tecnomatix
(Process Simulate, Plant Simulation, Line Designer).
Automation & Controls
Strong understanding of PLC architecture, Virtual PLCs, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), SCADA, and edge analytics/computing.
Simulation & Virtual Validation
Proven experience in discrete event simulation (FlexSim/Plant Simulate), material flow optimization, and ergonomic process design.
Data, AI & Software Ecosystems
- Familiarity with AI/ML integrations for predictive maintenance and automated fixture design (e.g., CadQuery).
- Knowledge of Computer Vision tools (OpenCV) and Industry 4.0 edge analytics.
- Exposure to web application and dashboard development (React.js, Looker Studio) for tracking Real-Time Process Capability (Cp/Cpk) and equipment lifecycles.
Advanced Manufacturing Technologies
Understanding of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs), Augmented Reality (AR) for Digital SOPs, and RFID-based access/escalation protocols.
MES Functional requirements drafting & business process modelling
Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor degree in engineering in any discipline, 13 to 15 years of working experience in Digital Manufacturing. Experience in Electric Vehicles or automobiles will be an advantage.
Must Have Competencies
- Proven experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with a focus on implementing advanced technologies.
- Hands-on experience with most of the new age technologies like MES, IoT, AI/ML, robotics, and SCADA/PLC systems.
- Understanding of data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualization tools.
- People Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of 4-5 digital manufacturing and automation engineers.
- Project Delivery: Oversee a diverse portfolio of digital transformation projects from Proof of Concept (PoC) to full-scale plant implementation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with IT, Process Engineering, Quality, and shop-floor teams to ensure seamless adoption of new digital tools and automated workflows.
Good to have Competencies
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage complex projects and drive change in a dynamic environment.
