Embedded Engineering Manager

Join WHOOP, a leading performance optimization company, as an Embedded Engineering Manager. In this role, you will build and lead a new embedded team for a next-generation wearable device. You will combine technical leadership with people management, guiding a team of firmware engineers and overseeing the delivery of the on-device experience firmware. You will work closely with various teams, including Product, Design, Hardware, and Quality, and contribute directly to the code when needed. Responsibilities

• Diriger une équipe d'ingénieurs en firmware à temps plein et contractuels, en participant aux décisions d'architecture et en examinant le code de l'équipe.
• Collaborer avec les équipes Produit, Design, Matériel et Qualité pour transformer les objectifs d'expérience des membres en exigences de firmware.
• Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work meets the same quality bar as personal contributions
• Experience optimizing firmware for performance, memory, and power on constrained hardware

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with an RTOS (Zephyr, FreeRTOS, or similar) on microcontrollers or embedded SoCs
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tradeoffs to Product, Design, and leadership
• Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver in ambiguous environments, including early-stage hardware programs where requirements are still forming
• Experience shipping firmware in a consumer electronics product, from early hardware bring-up through production
• 5+ years of embedded firmware development in C or C++, including experience as an engineering manager or team lead responsible for mentorship, feedback, and career development
• The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office
