Senior Manager (Quantum Software Development Tools)

Join Quantinuum, a leading quantum computing company, as a Senior Manager for Software Developer Tools. In this role, you will lead engineering teams in building core quantum languages, compilers, and toolkits. You will balance people management with technical roadmap execution, stay technically engaged, coordinate cross-discipline collaboration, and guide developer tooling from experimental research prototypes to production-grade enterprise software. The position is based in Cambridge, UK, with occasional travel to international sites.

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers and developers.

Responsibilities

• Partner with software directors and senior architects to execute technical milestones for compilers, runtimes, languages, optimization tools, emulators and debuggers.
• Coordinate cross-discipline collaboration with hardware, theory, and product teams across global sites.

Requirements

• Technical Background: Strong background in compiler design, programming language development, or high-performance developer tooling
• Languages: Proficiency in modern languages such as Python and Rust
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline
• Experience: 7+ years in software engineering with at least 3 years in a formal technical leadership or line-management capacity
