Job Title: Lead Design Technologist Job Category: Information Technology Time Type: Full time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: None Employee Type: Regular Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Continental US * * * The Opportunity: We are seeking an entrepreneurial Lead Design Technologist to scale human-centered design across CACI, operating within the Agile Solution Factory (ASF) Center of Excellence (COE) and the User Experience Factory.
In this role, you will shape the user experience of cutting-edge solutions for government clients while actively driving UX excellence throughout CACI. You'll work in a highly collaborative environment, applying your expertise in UX design principles, interaction design, AI acceleration, and front-end development to bridge the gap between design and technical implementation.
As a core member of the COE, your primary mission is to build, codify, and scale repeatable UX solutions —ranging from unified design systems to functional self-service applications—that project teams can deploy independently. You will balance creating enterprise enablement tools with delivering high-impact program-specific consulting, design, and development work within a fast-paced, innovative culture.
Responsibilities: 1. Building Repeatable Enterprise Solutions & Applications Scale the UX Presence: Engineer and deploy repeatable solutions (including internal applications, UI templates, and more) designed to let programs rapidly spin up high-quality user interfaces.
Design System Engineering: Build, maintain, and scale our reusable UI component libraries and enterprise design tokens, structuring the framework architecture so that it natively integrates with and optimizes AI-assisted development tools. Design-to-Code: Operationalize translation workflows that convert Figma designs, variables, component properties, and layout logic directly into front-end code.
Self-Service Governance Applications: Develop automated toolkits and self-service compliance applications for independent heuristic evaluations, UX quality assessments, and Section 508 accessibility checks.
Playbooks & Strategic Guidance: Create and maintain comprehensive playbooks spanning user research, design standards, accessibility compliance, and more, to educate cross-functional stakeholders and non-designers. 2.
Program-Specific Delivery & Advisory Work Internal UX Consulting: Guide program managers and technical leads on how to structure their design-to-development workflows, resource their teams, and plan UI timelines. Expert Problem Solving: Engage with active programs to diagnose and resolve complex UI/UX, front-end, and accessibility challenges.
Deliver hands-on technical solutions and targeted feature enhancements, then transfer proven patterns and best practices across programs to accelerate outcomes at scale. 3. AI Literacy & Workflow Acceleration AI Tool Integration & Workflows: Establish standard practices for AI-assisted UI/UX tools to optimize rapid prototyping, user research synthesis, and discovery.
AI UI Education: Author clear playbooks and self-service documentation instructing project and program teams how to effectively and securely leverage AI for UI/UX, ensuring generated artifacts remain compliant and structurally sound. Workflow Acceleration: Leverage generative AI internally to maximize your own prototyping speed, component generation, and data synthesis.
Qualifications: Required: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, or a related field. Experience: 5+ years of experience successfully blending front-end UI engineering with UX design strategy, or design system enablement.
Front-End Engineering: Strong programming skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern enterprise frameworks ( React, Angular, or Vue.js ). Figma Mastery: Solid proficiency in Figma architectures, including an advanced understanding of auto-layout, components, styles, and variables for design-to-code handoff. Accessibility & Compliance: Understanding of digital accessibility standards ( Section 508 / WCAG ).
UX Strategy & Research: Solid grasp of user-centered design principles, user research methods, heuristics, personas, journey mapping, and more. Modern Tooling & AI Literacy: Practical experience leveraging generative AI to accelerate development workflows, alongside the ability to teach others how to leverage AI tools effectively for design output.
Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional presentation skills; comfortable leading initial product discovery, advocating for UXF capabilities, and providing real-time UX guidance directly in front of program stakeholders. Desired: Experience with back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Python) is a plus. Portfolio of past projects demonstrating UX engineering skills.
Experience in establishing or contributing to a UX Center of Excellence. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies, CI/CD, and DevSecOps best practices. Deep understanding of accessibility standards. Experience in Government or defense-related projects. Demonstrated ability to obtain Government Clearances - What You Can Expect: A culture of integrity.
