Job Description Summary Wind turbines operate in some of the harshest environments on Earth, and the mechanical structures that hold them together have to perform flawlessly for decades. As a Mechanical Engineer on our Nacelle & Frames team, you'll take ownership of the structural components (composites, metallic structures, cranes, seals, and louvers) that keep turbines running safely and reliably in the field.
You'll work alongside senior engineers who will guide your growth, while you bring fresh thinking to how these components are designed, tested, and improved. This is a hands-on engineering role where your solutions directly shape turbines operating around the world and where solving a tough technical problem today means a more reliable, more efficient energy source tomorrow.
Job Description What You'll Do Design and develop mechanical structural components for wind turbines, including composites, metallic structures, cranes, seals, and louvers Partner with System, Sub-System, and Component Engineers to integrate your designs into the overall turbine architecture, meeting turbine and interface requirements Own the detailed engineering specifications and drawings used to source turbine components, ensuring they meet GE Vernova and industry quality standards Conduct technical risk assessments and build risk mitigation plans, including Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), design verification, and validation test plans Support the resolution of safety and functional issues on turbines already in the field Apply a systems-thinking approach — understanding how a change to your component ripples across the broader turbine design Bring standard design practices, tools, and lessons learned into your work to continuously sharpen how the team designs About You You're an early-career mechanical engineer who's curious about how things work at a system level, comfortable learning from experienced colleagues, and energized by solving real, physical engineering problems that matter.
Required: Formal education and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is a plus, but we're most interested in your total experience and professional achievements Some experience in product design and development within the wind industry or a comparable industry Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools, ideally Unigraphics NX 3D-CAD Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools, ideally Ansys, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate across engineering teams Willingness and ability to travel up to 20% of the time Preferred: Familiarity with wind turbine structural components Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI) development, or structured problem-solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) Experience collaborating in project teams across an international environment What You'll Gain GE Vernova employees rise to the challenge of building a world that works.
To support that mission, we offer a robust and competitive benefits package designed to help you manage both your career and personal life — including continued on-the-job learning and development opportunities to help you grow into the engineer you want to become.
