As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll lead engineering teams responsible for Beacon, IBM’s strategic quantitative platform, supporting model development and validation, analytics and bespoke applications across Global Markets and other areas. Beacon provides important capabilities used across Trading and Sales, Market Risk and quantitative teams. You’ll lead the engineering strategy and evolution of the platform, setting technical direction, driving engineering excellence and building high-performing teams. Working closely with Product, Architecture, Quantitative Engineering and business stakeholders, you’ll help shape a resilient and scalable platform that supports the evolving needs of our markets businesses. We are interested in hearing from people who Lead and grow high-performing Quant, Platform and Application Engineering teams. Bring strong expertise in Python, AWS, application and infrastructure design, ideally within financial markets.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for scalable, resilient and secure platforms and applications.
• Understand Quant workflows across model development, testing and productionisation.
• Champion engineering excellence across DevSecOps, SRE, observability and automation.
• Partner effectively with Quants, Product, Architecture, Risk and business stakeholders.

Requirements

• We do not expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these, or a willing to learn these skillsets (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team!
• Certified AWS Solution Architect or Software Engineer Strong AWS cloud architecture and engineering experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Python software engineering and data technologies.
• Experience designing scalable applications, platforms and infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and DevOps practices.
• Experience with containers, SRE and observability in production environments.
