Software Development Engineer II

As a Software Development Engineer II , you will design, develop, deploy and maintain reliable software features across backend or frontend applications. Reporting to the Group Engineering Leader , you will be part of the Product & Tech Team , delivering moderately complex features throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• You will turn clear requirements into high-quality software, solve problems across live and non-live environments, and help the team improve how it builds and supports its products.
• Your work will make software easier to scale, maintain and reuse.
• You will take ownership from design through production, use AI to support your engineering workflow, and consider the customer and business value behind each technical decision.
• You will also share your knowledge, support less experienced engineers and contribute to a strong engineering culture.
• What you will do Design, build and deliver well-defined software features that meet agreed specifications.
• Create clean, scalable and reusable code using modern Java features and frameworks.
• Diagnose and resolve issues across development, testing and production environments.
• Contribute to technical discussions, RFCs, continuous improvement and team initiatives.
• Support managed software on call, mentor junior engineers and help new colleagues get started.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3. Hands-on experience with React.js or Angular . Knowledge of component-based architecture, state management, and responsive UI development. Experience with REST APIs, frontend performance optimisation, and debugging. Familiarity with UI libraries such as Material UI, Bootstrap, or Tailwind CSS . Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. Experience with unit testing, Git, and CI/CD practices. Basic understanding of microservices, Docker, Kubernetes, and secure coding practices.
