Senior Cloud Security Engineer

Robinhood's Cryptographic Services & Infrastructure team as a Software Engineer.

Responsibilities

• In this high-impact role, you will help build and operationalize Robinhood's new in-house card-processing service, protecting sensitive financial and customer data.
• You will design, build, and maintain production services and infrastructure supporting key management, encryption, and decryption functions.
• You will also collaborate with internal engineering teams and participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
• Prior cryptography or security experience is preferred, but strong engineers with a passion for security are encouraged to apply.
• Design, build, and maintain production services and infrastructure supporting key management, encryption, and decryption functions.
• Help architect, launch, and scale Robinhood’s new in-house card-processing environment to protect sensitive card, financial, and tax-related data.
• Collaborate with internal engineering teams to support migrations, drive adoption of shared cryptographic capabilities, and ensure safe system design.

Requirements

• Curiosity and willingness to learn security engineering principles and participate in a light on-call rotation
• Clear and concise communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to explain technical decisions and proactively collaborate when facing challenges
• Experience building, operating, or supporting production services, distributed systems, or infrastructure
• Proficiency writing production code in at least one modern programming language (such as Python, Go, Java, C#, or C++) with a strong ability to reason about complex systems
• Comfort working across multiple technical domains, including software development, infrastructure, and operational reliability
• Familiarity with key management, secrets management, or core cryptographic concepts (such as symmetric encryption or public/private key pairs)

Preferred

• While prior cryptography or security experience is highly preferred, we are excited to empower strong engineers with a passion for security to learn and grow their skills on the job
• Prior experience in site reliability engineering (SRE), platform engineering, or cloud security
• Experience handling sensitive financial, payment, or card data in regulated environments
• Background in supporting internal customer migrations or driving platform adoption across engineering teams
