Dental Assistant Exceptional Dental of Midcity New Orleans, Louisiana Exceptional Dental of Midcity is looking for an "exceptional" Dental Assistant to join the team! We are a high end office in the heart of Midcity with state of the art facilities and full benefit offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Actively provide instruments and materials to dentist during exams and procedures in order to help maintain patient comfort and dentist's efficiency
  • Assist with dental and medical emergencies according to OSHA and office procedures

Assist chair side during administration of nitrous oxide

  • Instruct patients in oral hygiene and plaque control programs
  • Make preliminary impressions for study casts and occlusal registrations for mounting study casts
  • Clean and polish removable appliances
  • Take and record medical and dental histories and vital signs of patients
  • Record treatment information in patient records

Expose dental diagnostic x-rays

  • Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner
  • Must maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance in accordance with assigned schedule and time off policies
  • Other duties and tasks, as assigned periodically

Requirements

  • Must be able to comfortably and efficiently handle multiple deadlines and task assignments
  • Must be able to work both independently and cooperatively in team settings
  • High School Diploma or GED EDDA Certification preferred but not required

Preferred

  • Prior dental office experience preferred

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Standing and walking 80% Sitting 20% Moderate noise levels from dental and other lab equipment Medical, office, and lab setting Minimum lifting requirements of 35 pounds in order to transfer equipment and pack and unpack supplies. Frequent bending, twisting, and position changes in order to examine and service patients.
