Summary We are looking for a hands-on Technical Lead to own the technical direction of our global web platform, built on Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Sites and AEM Edge Delivery Services (EDS). You will lead the move of high-volume marketing properties onto EDS, keep our core AEM estate healthy and scalable, and bring AI into how the team designs, builds, tests and ships — not as a talking point, but as part of everyday engineering practice. This role sits at the intersection of architecture, delivery and people leadership. You will partner closely with Product, Marketing, eCommerce, MarTech, Compliance and Analytics teams, and guide both internal engineers and contractor partners. Job Description Platform architecture & technical leadership

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end architecture across AEM as a Cloud Service and EDS — including the decision framework for which properties belong on each, and how they coexist (CDN routing, shared design system, shared integrations).
  • Lead migration and creation of sites / microsites and marketing pages to EDS, with a focus on performance, authoring simplicity and lower run cost.
  • Set coding standards, review designs and code, and make the hard technical trade-offs between speed, quality and maintainability.
  • Guide integrations with commerce (e.g., SAP Hybris), search (e.g., Algolia), Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target/CDP, Marketo, Salesforce and tag management (GTM), plus consent/compliance tooling.
  • Actively use AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor) to accelerate component and block development, refactoring, documentation and test creation — and set team guidelines for using them safely and well.
  • Design and refine prompts, prompt templates and lightweight agents/automations for repeatable engineering and content tasks (e.g., content migration, page/block scaffolding, metadata and alt-text generation, QA checks).
  • Bring a clear point of view on where AI should assist, accelerate or automate — and where it should not — with attention to security, privacy, IP and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead a team of developers (internal and partner), plan sprints with Product, and deliver predictable releases against time-bound commitments such as global launches and events.
  • Build an automation-first quality approach: unit tests, Playwright (or similar) end-to-end tests, Lighthouse/Core Web Vitals performance budgets in CI/CD, and accessibility checks (WCAG 2.1 AA).
  • Own Cloud Manager pipelines, environments, release management and production support, including incident response and root-cause analysis.
  • Mentor engineers, grow EDS and AI skills across the team, and act as the technical voice in conversations with business stakeholders and leadership.

Requirements

  • You Bring Required 10–14 years of web/software engineering experience, with at least 8+ years on Adobe AEM (Sites, ideally AEM as a Cloud Service) and 2+ years in a technical lead or architect role.
  • Hands-on experience building on AEM Edge Delivery Services — blocks, document-based or Universal Editor authoring, aem.live tooling, and performance tuning.
  • Java, OSGi, Sling Models, HTL, Core Components, Dispatcher, content and component architecture, multi-site/multi-language management (MSM).
  • modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and Core Web Vitals optimization.
  • Demonstrated, practical use of AI tools in day-to-day development, plus solid prompt-design skills — able to show real examples of what you built or sped up with AI.
  • Experience integrating REST/GraphQL APIs, headless delivery, and third-party platforms (search, commerce, analytics, marketing automation).
  • CI/CD and Git experience (Adobe Cloud Manager, Jenkins or GitHub Actions), and comfort with Agile/Scrum delivery.
  • Clear communicator who can explain technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders and influence without direct authority.
  • Nice to have Adobe certifications (AEM Sites Developer / Architect).
  • AI-assisted development practices adopted across the team, with documented guidelines and visible improvements in delivery speed and quality.

Preferred

  • Support AI-driven experiences on the site, such as conversational/concierge assistants, AI-assisted search and personalization — including API integration, guardrails, and evaluation of output quality.
  • Experience with Adobe Target, Adobe Analytics/CJA, Real-Time CDP or AEM Assets/Dynamic Media.
  • Experience with Algolia or other search platforms, and with SAP Commerce (Hybris) integrations.
  • Experience building with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI), RAG patterns, or agentic workflows.
  • Background in regulated industries (healthcare, life sciences, financial services) — consent management, privacy and compliance tooling such as Evidon and GTM governance.
  • Experience migrating from other CMS platforms (Sitecore, WordPress) to AEM.
  • Success Looks Like in Year One A clear AEM-vs-EDS architecture and migration roadmap, with first priority properties live on EDS and measurable gains in page performance and authoring speed.
  • Automated testing and performance checks running in the release pipeline, reducing defects and manual QA effort.
  • A stronger, more self-sufficient engineering team, less dependent on individual experts.
