Software Engineer (API & Automation)

In this role, you will design and build production APIs and SDKs, create reliable automation systems, and collaborate with product management teams and external developers. Responsibilities

• Design and build production APIs and SDKs for interacting with Formlabs software, printers, and manufacturing workflows.
• Build reliable automation systems that enable customers to integrate print preparation and Formlabs printers into their software and workflows.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers and technical teams across different disciplines to solve complex problems and shape the long-term technical direction.
• Enjoy working on ambiguous and technically challenging problems that span multiple systems

Requirements

• Experience designing or working with APIs using technologies such as REST, gRPC, OpenAPI, or AsyncAPI
• Are highly user-focused and motivated by building software that makes a real difference for the people who use it

Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, or cloud infrastructure

• Have experience building APIs, SDKs, or other developer-facing software
• Are comfortable working across system boundaries and debugging complex interactions between software components
• Can collaborate effectively with engineers and technical teams across different disciplines
• Experience with messaging systems such as NATS or MQTT
• Are interested in the interaction between software and physical devices
• Experience with embedded systems, networking
• Take ownership, have a bias toward action, and are comfortable making decisions and moving work forward
• Experience with MES or industrial automation
• Have a strong foundation in software architecture, data structures, object-oriented software design, and cloud services

Experience building AI-powered applications

• Experience writing C++ code, from academic or personal projects to production software
• We’re looking for engineers at all experience levels, from early-career engineers building their expertise to experienced engineers ready to take on complex technical challenges

Preferred

• Experience with 3D graphics, computational geometry, robotics, or simulation
