Senior Market Data Engineer

Join Coinbase as a Senior Market Data Engineer on the Institutional Markets team. You will build and operate systems that capture, normalize, and distribute real-time market data across the platform. Your responsibilities will include building and maintaining market data components, designing and implementing low-latency services, driving reliability and performance improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders. You should have a track record of shipping features end-to-end, familiarity with market data protocols, and at least 3 years of backend engineering experience.

Requirements

• Familiarity with venue/exchange connectivity and market data protocols (FIX, ITCH/OUCH, multicast)
• 3+ years of backend engineering experience building and maintaining production low-latency systems
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
• Hands-on experience with at least one area of market data infrastructure (feed handlers, normalization, or distribution)
• Proficiency in low-latency Java (or C++) and familiarity with high-throughput messaging frameworks (Aeron, SBE, or similar)
