Join our team as an Engineering Manager for the Governance Intelligence (OIG) product. In this role, you will lead a team of ML experts and engineers to deliver key intelligence features powered by machine learning and AI systems. You will also manage the end-to-end AI product lifecycle, architect and maintain cloud and on-premises infrastructure, and collaborate with other engineering teams to meet stringent governmental security standards. Additionally, you will partner with Product and Design to understand and own the desired customer outcome, and invest in the growth of your team.

Adapt the OIG product to meet the needs of government customers by designing, building, and maintaining robust backend services and intuitive frontend interfaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of machine learning experts and engineers to deliver key Intelligence features for the OIG product, ensuring the end-to-end AI product lifecycle is managed effectively.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure software deployments meet stringent governmental security standards, and proactively identify and prioritize technical debt.
  • Architectural expertise: Proven experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs with modern web technologies, including making decisions with lasting, org-wide impact

Requirements

  • Backend proficiency: Deep expertise in building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language
  • Solid understanding of web authentication and authorization fundamentals - how auth flows work, and best practices for securing sensitive user data
  • Experience with CI/CD (CircleCI or equivalent), containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and a major cloud platform
  • Hands-on depth in coding at scale using: Java, Python, or TypeScript, plus API (REST, gRPC) and UI automation (Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent)
  • Frontend flexibility: High proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript with true fullstack range, including the ability to ship robust frontends
  • 10+ years in software engineering, including 3+ in a management role, shipping enterprise cloud software
  • Operates well beyond basic AI tool usage - understands how to apply AI meaningfully across the full software development lifecycle, can evaluate and adopt new AI tooling with good judgment, and is able to establish practices and bring a team along
  • AI Infrastructure Expertise: Hands-on experience building, scaling, and troubleshooting AWS/GCP based AI infra
  • Identity Governance and Administration (IGA) — access requests, certifications, entitlement management, separation of duties, or role modeling (Okta, SailPoint, Saviynt, One Identity, Oracle, or in-house)
