Staff Software Engineer (Scheduling)

Toast, a leading restaurant management platform, as a Staff Software Engineer. In this role, you will be instrumental in building the Scheduling product, a key component of Toast's Team Management Suite. You will lead fellow developers, product managers, and designers in creating innovative scheduling features that enhance employee engagement and drive profitability for restaurant owners. You will also champion engineering excellence, mentor fellow engineers, and actively contribute to product design and feature selection discussions.

Responsibilities

• Concevoir, développer et livrer des solutions logicielles évolutives pour le produit de planification.
• Diriger une équipe de développeurs, de chefs de produit et de designers pour créer des fonctionnalités de planification.
• Promouvoir l'excellence en ingénierie en améliorant la qualité du code et en mentorant les ingénieurs.

Requirements

• Excellent communication: Ability to articulate complex technical ideas clearly to both technical peers and product leadership
• Effectively works with ambiguity, agile delivery, and shipping usable software incrementally
• Balanced expertise: Ability to design high-level technical solutions on a whiteboard while remaining deeply connected to code-level execution and system performance
• Strong customer empathy and a drive to make their lives better through a thoughtful user experience, robust technical solutions, and continuous product improvement
• Proficient with modern API design (TypeScript, REST, GraphQL) and relational databases or alternative data stores (e.g., PostgreSQL, DynamoDB)
• 8+ years of backend/full-stack experience, delivering products that drive impact
