Product Engineer (Design)

Join Planlab as a Product Engineer (Design) and help create intuitive interfaces for complex, data-heavy workflows. You will work closely with the CTO and co-founder to shape user flows, interaction patterns, and visual quality across core product experiences. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the product and the company as a whole.

Responsibilities

• Design and ship interfaces for complex, data-heavy workflows, focusing on overall experience and individual interactions.
• Collaborate with the CTO and co-founder on user flows, interaction design, and visual quality, and drive implementation using AI coding tools.
• Build reusable components, design guidance, and automated checks that improve consistency across the product, and iterate based on feedback.
• Clear, structured communication about design decisions, trade-offs, assumptions, and feedback.

Requirements

• Strong interaction design and visual judgment, with an ability to make complicated software intuitive.
• Demonstrated ability to design and build working software, whether through professional work, substantial projects, or internships.
• Technical fluency to drive implementation with frontend tools and AI coding assistants.
• Initiative and ownership: you notice problems, explore solutions, and move work forward independently.
• Habit of testing assumptions through real use and improving what you ship after release.

Preferred

• Previous software engineering experience, especially with React or another frontend framework, is highly beneficial.
