Software Engineering Intern (System Intelligence and Machine Learning, 2027 Summer Intern)

Join Waymo as a Software Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. As part of the Onboard Software Integrity team, you will work on building architectures, tools, and workflows to ensure software integrity across Waymo's autonomous driving systems. Your responsibilities will include designing and building infrastructure to diagnose software non-determinism and investigating non-deterministic execution patterns across Waymo's codebases. Understanding of common sources of software non-determinism (e.g., concurrency/race conditions, floating-point determinism, etc.)

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in software engineering or a related technical field
• Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and systems debugging
• Strong programming skills in C++
• Experience with statistical data analysis, anomaly detection, or tracing tools
• Experience with graph execution frameworks
