Waymo, a leader in autonomous driving technology, as a Software Engineering intern for the summer of 2027. As an intern, you will work on complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making, and deep learning. You will collaborate with hardware and systems engineers, design and implement onboard C++ logic, validate software changes with large-scale simulation suites, and write clean, tested, production-grade code. This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of autonomous driving while gaining valuable experience and skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a creative team to ensure the behavior of Waymo's autonomous vehicles is compliant, safe, smooth, and predictable.
  • Design and implement onboard C++ logic governing how the Waymo Driver interacts with traffic controls, and validate software changes with large-scale simulation suites.
  • Write clean, tested, production-grade code adhering to rigorous code review standards and continuous integration testing.

Requirements

  • Solid foundational understanding of core Computer Science principles, including data structures, algorithms, and computational complexity
  • Experience programming in C++ with clean and efficient code
  • Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
  • BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in similar fields
  • Experience developing software for safety-critical, fault-tolerant, or real-time systems
  • Proven ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable C++ code in a large-scale codebase
  • Experience with large-scale data/ML applications
