Software Development Engineer (Pipedream Connect)

Join the Pipedream team, a startup environment within Workday, where you will help expand the core capabilities of Pipedream Connect and its growing catalog of connectors. You will work across a diverse technology stack and have the opportunity to continuously learn new technologies. Your work will directly shape the product's direction and impact both internal Workday services and external customers.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience developing REST/GraphQL APIs with a common web application framework (e.g., Rails, Node.js/Express)
• Proficient with source control management tools and practices, including managing versions and branches, resolving merge conflicts, and ensuring changes are properly documented

5+ years of related software development experience

• Skilled in technical writing and documentation, with the ability to create clear, structured, and comprehensive documents that convey complex technical information to a variety of audiences
• Experienced in code testing methodologies such as unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing, with the ability to use testing tools and frameworks to ensure software quality before deployment

Experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL)

• Proficient in API development, including designing, building, and maintaining APIs that enable integration with external systems and improve software modularity, security, and performance
• A genuine passion for learning and intellectual curiosity — you enjoy picking up new technologies and diving into unfamiliar problem spaces
• Skilled in algorithmic thinking, with the ability to design and apply step-by-step approaches to solve complex problems, optimize processes, and build efficient software
• Familiarity with key-value data stores (e.g., Redis, Valkey)
• Experience with techniques for scaling high-volume APIs
• Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including designing, programming, documenting, testing, and maintaining applications and software components

Preferred

• Experience building distributed applications on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) is a plus
• Experience with JVM languages (e.g., Java, Kotlin), Go, and/or Rust is a plus
