Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the cotton procurement strategy based on production requirements and market conditions.
- Source cotton from ginners, traders, brokers and key cotton markets .
- Monitor cotton prices, arrivals, crop conditions and market trends to take informed buying decisions.
- Negotiate price, quality, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Ensure cotton quality as per required parameters such as staple length, micronaire, strength, moisture and trash .
- Build and manage strong relationships with suppliers and develop a reliable supplier base.
- Coordinate with Spinning, Quality, Planning and Finance teams for uninterrupted raw-material availability.
- Drive cost optimisation, supplier performance and procurement efficiency .
Requirements
- Graduate in Textile / Agriculture / Commerce / Management ; MBA preferred.
- 10–15 years of relevant experience in cotton procurement , preferably with a textile/spinning organisation.
- Strong knowledge of Indian cotton markets, varieties, quality parameters and pricing dynamics .
- Excellent negotiation, commercial, analytical and supplier-management skills .
- Willingness to travel extensively across cotton-growing and sourcing locations.
