Operator, Grinder/Sandblast

This position grinds and smooths surfaces of manufactured parts prior to finishing operations.

Responsibilities

• This entry level position requires strong communication, interpersonal and team building skills to support the organization.
• Functions Examines and feels surface of workpiece for defects.
• Selects grade of abrasive belt, wheel, or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives and condition of metal and attaches to grinder.
• Starts grinder and moves it over surface of part to remove scratches, rust and burrs.
• Polishes ground area with finer abrasive to produce a smooth, unmarred surface.
• Replaces worn abrasive disks, wheels and belts.
• Operate lift truck with certification.
• Other duties assigned due to the need of the business.
• Physical/Environmental Requirements Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts.

Requirements

• Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 50lbs occasionally.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment.
• Ability to execute agreed tasks and deadlines against performance criteria (KPI) Computer/ERP literate Result orientation, ability to follow through and respect deadlines.
• Proactive and organized.
• Ability to manage confidential information.
