About Busha
- Since our inception in 2018, Busha has been at the forefront of digital currency exchange, offering trading options in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
- Our mission is to build an open financial system characterized by innovation, efficiency, and user-friendliness.
- We value Clear Communication, Positive Energy, Efficient Execution, and Continuous Learning in all our team members.
- At Busha, we are building technology that makes financial services more accessible, efficient and reliable.
- Busha Pro is our spot exchange for crypto and fiat, where speed, reliability and security are essential to delivering a seamless trading experience for our users.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the Busha Pro exchange: learn the codebase deeply, operate it in production and harden it.
- Design, build and optimize the backend systems that power Busha Pro’s trading capabilities.
- Develop and improve matching engine components, order books, order processing and trade execution workflows.
- Keep matching deterministic and consistent under peak load, with no crossed books, ghost fills or stale order state.
- Build reliable systems that can handle high transaction volumes while maintaining speed, accuracy and consistency.
- Work on APIs (REST, WebSocket, and later FIX), real-time market data, event-driven services and integrations that connect different parts of the trading platform.
- Improve system performance, reduce latency and identify bottlenecks before they become production issues.
- Benchmark and profile the matching path, load-test against realistic traffic and measure every change against a baseline.
- Build safeguards that help maintain accurate order processing, transaction integrity and reliable system recovery: pre-trade risk checks, price bands, circuit breakers, kill switches, failover and disaster recovery.
- Keep the ledger exact: trades and fees settled atomically, real-time balances, and crypto and fiat deposits and withdrawals reconciled against custody and banking records.
- Add trading pairs, order types (such as OCO, take-profit and stop-loss) and features, released with zero downtime.
- Analyze business product requirements and propose effective technical solutions.
- Write clean, testable and maintainable code, and participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
- Test matching and ledger invariants with simulation and replay.
- Take ownership of features from design and implementation through testing, deployment and ongoing monitoring.
- Share the on-call rotation for production trading systems.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering and DevOps to deliver key technical priorities.
- Share your knowledge, support other engineers and contribute to strong engineering practices.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development experience.
- Strong in Go, or strong in Rust, C++ or Java and willing to work primarily in Go.
- Hands-on experience building, operating or improving trading systems, exchange infrastructure, matching engines or comparable real-time transaction-processing platforms.
- A solid understanding of order books, order lifecycles, matching logic and trade execution.
- Experience building systems where performance, concurrency, reliability and data consistency are critical, including idempotency, exactly-once processing and recovery from partial failures.
- Experience working on systems that require low latency, high availability and predictable execution under heavy load.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, databases and distributed systems.
- Experience designing APIs, event-driven services and scalable backend architectures.
- Good judgment in an existing codebase: you improve a live system in small, safe steps rather than reaching for a rewrite.
- Performance work grounded in measurement: profiling, latency percentiles (p99 and above), and memory and garbage-collection tuning.
- Working knowledge of Linux internals (threading, CPU and NUMA effects, system calls) and TCP/UDP networking.
- A practical approach to testing, debugging, performance optimisation and production reliability, including testing that proves correctness through simulation, fuzzing or replaying production traffic.
- You've run what you built in production, including on-call and incident response, and can debug across the OS, network and application layers.
- The ability to take ownership of complex technical work and deliver it with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical decisions clearly.
- Experience at a cryptocurrency exchange, financial trading platform or electronic market.
- Familiarity with risk controls, settlement or market data infrastructure.
- Crypto infrastructure: wallets, custody, blockchain nodes, deposit and withdrawal pipelines.
- Fiat payment rails: bank transfers, local payment networks, settlement and reconciliation.
- The FIX protocol, event sourcing, or low-latency patterns such as the LMAX Disruptor.
- Experience with market surveillance, regulatory reporting or audits at a regulated venue.
- TypeScript/Node.js for services, gateways or internal tools around the engine.
What Success Looks Like
- You'll help us build trading systems that are reliable, performant and ready to scale.
- You'll take ownership of important engineering deliverables, improve the quality of our infrastructure and help ensure that orders and trades are processed accurately and efficiently.
- We value engineers who are proactive, thoughtful in their technical decisions and comfortable taking responsibility for the systems they build.
Why Join Busha?
- At Busha, you'll have the opportunity to work on challenging financial technology, influence important engineering decisions and help shape the infrastructure behind Busha Pro.
- If you enjoy solving complex backend problems, building performance-sensitive systems and working on technology where reliability and precision genuinely matter, we'd love to hear from you.
