Senior Designer, Design Practice

Responsibilities

Navigate conversations with design leads and product teams to surface gaps, spot wins, and shape what gets standardised.
Synthesise what’s working across teams, partnering with design leaders to document and share patterns that raise quality.
Drive the design portal forward as the place designers go for standards, best practices, and learning materials.
Work on how design quality is measured across the government, building frameworks that make impact visible and learnable across the community.
Drive the execution on the strategic direction for a GovTech-wide design system.

Shape the standards and systems that every designer at GovTech builds on, working at a level where your decisions compound across dozens of teams and products.
Broaden your practice across design systems, organisational design, and practice leadership, moving beyond project-level work to influence how design operates.
Work directly with the head of design practice and design leaders across GovTech, with visibility into how design is shaped at the organisational level.
Be part of a small central team where your ideas have room to become reality, without the layers that slow things down in larger organisations.

6+ years of experience building or contributing to design systems that scale across multiple teams or products.
A keen interest in how design moves the needle at an organisational level, not just within a single project.
Natural instinct for spotting what should be documented, standardised, or shared across teams.
Ease working across functions and seniority levels, from design leads to practitioners building the work.
Preferred background: hands-on experience shaping tooling decisions, team structures, or practice-level initiatives.
